Canada’s Zoo Crew provides a comprehensive pet services, pet retail products and birds with a flexible, most convenience and friendly approach for you and your pet’s needs.

Zoo Crew operates 24 hours a day six days per week. Closed Sundays - unless you are away for vacation or emergency - then Zoo Crew may allow for exceptions.

Pet Services:

Canada’s Zoo Crew is bonded and insured. The staff members will be equipped with pet-related educational background, cellular phone, and Pet First Aid and CPR courses.

Staff Members:

All Staff members have their own educational background and certified Pet First Aid and CPR Cerfitication from their private and public institutions that allow them to be fully equipped to meet your pets' needs.

They have expansive knowledge and great passion for animals and have gained years of experience with them.

They have also obtained security clearances that increase the level of trust for you, allowing you to know that you and your pets are in safe hands and that they have no criminal background.

Owner’s Information and Credentials

Joy Rushton has several years experience within the pet industry in several locations prior to moving to Ottawa and has been involved in the pet business since 1998.

It started off as a hobby and passion for pets and birds. As Joy gained more experience with varieties of birds and pets, her interests led to animal health, characteristics, and meeting breeding standards and pet bylaws and standards.

She received her pet education at PIJAC (Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council), in the Small Animal Specialist, Canine Specialist, Feline Specialist, Avian Specialist, Reptilies Specialist and Fresh Water Specialist programs.

Joy took her certification with the CPSA, and obtained Pet First Aid and CPR Cerfitication from a private institution. She also has other pet-related education from other institutions to help her understand the biology of pets and their behavioral issues.

Joy Rushton has also worked within the Police Force in Kingston and Ottawa area. She worked for the Property/Evidence, Criminal Investigation Division, and Media Relations, working with Criminologist, Forensic Department, office duties, and crime analyst.

Joy has security clearance.

Joy is currently a member with PSI (Pet Sitters International) and will soon become a member of the following:

  5. PJIAC (Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council)
  6. Professional Dog Walkers Association International

She will be gaining these memberships to enhance her professionalism with the public and clients.

Joy Rushton is also working closely with C.I.T.E.S. and the City of Ottawa to ensure that by laws and regulations are followed.

Joy has a 16 year old male, Citron Cockatoo named Smokey as a pet, and a 2 year old male, Jack Russell Terrier soon to be a working dog for the Hearing Alert Dog Program Her dog's name is Isaiah who enjoy's Joy's company along with a variety of avians.

Joy is pursuing and continuing in her degree in Criminology and Science Program at University of Ottawa.
